Requests for advice from some nice people!

December 7, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Hey guys,

Read through these and please advise accordingly.

I’m having problems too – wondering if anyone else has had similar.

I pay for a broadband service £10 a month (despite initially being told that there would definatley be a free service in my area by september). I also ordered my brooadband equipment from TalkTalk in their online shop. It was continually not delivered, and eventually 6 weeks later I received everything I needed. In the mean time I have been paying for 2 internet services – one via braodband, the other through calls to an 0845 number (a win-win situation for talktalk surely!)

They are seemingly unwilling to compensate me for this – anyone else in the same boat?

Does anyone know how the 10 pound + calls bundle works? I’m really not sure. Talk to Emilie

Hi there Mr. Murray. As far as this goes, I’d say start complaining via registered post, write down any phone calls and days you remember and document. It’s now what, almost 3 months late? That’s not good enough! Read through the things you can do page.

i write this on behalf of my 16yr daughter, who live sin her very first flat,i signed her up for TT for free broadband assuming the cheapness was betetr for her,ok her phone service went on, but since 26th sept when she was told a nd recieved her login details and activation date, there has been no broadband, too many calls to list always the same, we can re provision the line, your not logged into our domain, we will get that sorted 3 days max, and weekly calls meant nothing, i ask what would be my course of action here. thanks, very pi$$ed off .

Chat to Mr. Murray if you have any advice.

Carphone Warehouse’s aggressive cold calling tactics getting them in trouble…. again

December 7, 2006 · 4 Comments

It’s a bit strange. A few people, when they found out I run this blog, told me ‘I’m so f****ing tired of them calling me. EVERY DAY. I can’t get them to leave me alone….’ I brushed it off as a sort of whatever type thing but as it turns out, there was a legitimate complaint:

And it’s not just windows and conservatory companies which are guilty of this. The commissioner is meeting Carphone Warehouse and Talk Talk this Friday to discuss similar complaints. Unless assurances of future compliance are accepted, more enforcement notices will be inevitable.

More fines? I can only hope.

I can’t get no, no no no….! I believe that wold be a better theme song than Something in the Air.

Is CPW listening?

Telewest – 701
AOL – 679
Tiscali – 657
BT – 651
Orange – 650
NTL – 617
Talk Talk – 615

The very, very bottom. Worth noting that they’re only a teensy, itsy bit below NTL.

Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone’s make out session not that passionate.

December 7, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The papers were positively buzzing with the amazing news that Vodafone had kind of come back to the Carphone Warehouse. You would think, for all the publicity, that the lovebirds had renewed their vows and planned on getting remarried. However, like Anniston and Vaughn’s relationship, it may not be as close as it would appear.

1. Carphone upgrades are only 15% of the old business and there is no chance that Vodafone go back on the exclusive relationship with Phones4U. Phones4U has delivered exceptionally high volumes of Vodafone contract sales in recent weeks.
2. Carphone is really struggling to sell the Cath Kidston range.
3. Phones 4U are about to start selling “independent” broadband
4. Both Vodafone and Orange are putting the pressure on their store staff to sell more. Although, it is reported as a negative story, I believe long term this is the only way forward if the network operators are ever going to deliver decent volumes of direct sales and break the dependence on high indirect commissions.
